Craft Membership Content in a Day

Think it will take months (years?!) to fill your membership site with valuable content? Worry that the e-course you’ve been excited to design will take all year?

Think again.

Many of the course you’ve seen for sale — or maybe registered for — were created in a day. For savvy coaches and mental health professionals, creating an e-course is just a matter of putting the pieces together. If you’ve been in business for more than a few weeks, you already have everything you need to craft a powerful eCourse or membership program.

Use Your Strengths to Design an E-Course or Membership Program

You could spend days or weeks researching new strategies, testing new ideas, and developing a completely new (to you) curriculum. Or you can embrace a tried-and-true method of building a course or membership business content: Write what you know.

When you’ve spent months or years immersed in your area of expertise, it’s easy to talk about. You probably do it every day. You write emails, chat on the phone with clients, write blog posts, manage content on social media. Moreover, you probably absorb content — everything from podcasts to videos to books — like a beach towel on a warm summer day. All of these things making developing a course out of seemingly thin air possible.

Repurpose Your Content for a Membership Site

If you have a blog or other courses you’ve created, or if you’ve been diligent about writing to an email list, then you already have a wealth of content to draw from. Browse through previous emails and blog content for gems you can polish and publish. Scout through your old courses for modules and elements that are a good fit for your new program. Update the content, as needed, and redesign according to your new branding or theme, then use it to add value to your new project.

Don’t worry that some of your content may have seen the light of day before… Even if you repurpose your entire blog, people will be happy to have a step-by-step plan. And don’t worry if different versions of the content is free elsewhere; your clients will be thrilled to have it all succinct and organized in one place. It’s the convenience of having a proven strategy without having to compile it themselves that will prompt them to pay.

Fill in the Blanks with Rebrandable Content

If there are obvious holes in your content (and there may not be) you can easily fill them in with rebrandable content. You can find inexpensive, well-researched and well-written private label content on nearly every subject. Even better, you can often find a variety of formats, including video, software, slide decks and graphics. All of these can be used to create a more well-rounded, valuable course with very little effort on your part.

Go for the Low-Hanging Fruit

Let’s be clear. An eCourse you create in a single day is not likely to be an all-inclusive, multi-media filled epic offering. Instead, aim for a low-cost introductory course that will sit near the top of your funnel. You can always expand it later (repurposing yet again) into a more comprehensive training, but for now, the goal is to get it finished and get it out there. Likewise, it won’t serve to fill your entire membership site in one day. However, it can become part of a well-developed offering full of valuable content.
